One teenage boy’s jailed and another hospitalized in the Quad Cities after a stabbing this morning at United Township High School in East Moline, Illinois. Superintendent Craig Whitlock says a fight that had started in town over the weekend flared up again just before the start of the school day. The superintendent says he thinks the student accused of injuring another had recently transferred from Rock Island High School, and believes the fight was over a girl. The injured student underwent surgery to determine whether he’d suffered any internal injuries. Asked if a weapon was used, Superintendent Whitlock says witnesses were unclear and said it may have been a stabbing, but also said the “weapon” may have been an inkpen. The youth charged in the incident was being held in the Rock Island County jail.
