(10/16/01)Packages sent to an eastern Iowa company are being tested to check for anthrax.
Clayton Jones, President of Rockwell Collins, a Cedar Rapids-based company that makes communications and aviation electronics for commercial and military aircraft Jones says two “suspicious” packages were delivered Monday to a Rockwell Collins facility in Coralville and another suspicious package was sent to the Rockwell Collins facility in Manchester. He says they’ve isolated the packages and brought in the proper authorities.
The packages delivered to Coralville contained an “unknown substance” and were opened, but the package sent to Manchester was not opened. Jones says all three came from the same source.
Jones says the “few” Rockwell Collins employees who came in contact with the containers are being counseled by health officials. He says they’re taking the proper precautions so they can find out what the substance was.
