A major development project is on the line as voters go to the polls in eastern Iowa today.
Scott County voters are deciding whether the county should sell bonds to raise five million dollars for the “River Renaissance” project in Davenport. Without the county money, the project would lose a 20-million dollar award from the state “Vision Iowa” fund. Proponents say the project will bring new life and jobs to Davenport’s downtown. Opponents say the employment numbers are inflated, and Scott County should not fund a Davenport project. The issue needs 60-percent approval to pass.
