Iowa hosts eighth-ranked Michigan on Saturday. Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz
says it will be a big-game atmosphere in Kinnick. The Michigan defense has been almost impossible to run against. Still, Ferentz says the Hawkeyes cannot afford to junk the ground game. He says they have to find something that will be effective, even though other teams haven’t found anything that works against the Wolverines. Ferentz hopes the Hawkeyes are ready for a game of this magnitude, he thinks they’re better prepared than they were a few years ago.
The Iowa State Cyclones take a 5-1 mark on the road in the Big-12 to take on 24th-ranked Texas A-and-M. Cyclone coach Dan McCarney says while happy with the start, there’s a long way to go.
McCarney says the Aggies defense ranks among the nation’s best in stopping the pass.
Seneca Wallace has become one of the top players in the Big-12 and McCarney says while the coaches knew he had potential, his play has exceeded their expectations.
