A former northeast Iowa teacher accused of smoking pot with his students will testify at his own trial again today.59-year-old Bernard Roland of West Union had taught students with behavioral disorders at the North Linn School District in Troy Mills. He’s charged with distributing marijuana to a minor and providing alcohol to a minor. Roland testified Wednesday that he never smoked any marijuana with students, or bought them any beer. Roland did say that he often took students on field trips. He said after one trip he took two of the boys to an Elgin tavern and had a couple of beers. His students claim he was too drunk to drive home. Roland also said he took students to a cabin on the Wapsie River for science projects. The students claim they went to the cabin to smoke pot.
