Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said he would rather the Iowa fans not boo their own team, but says he does not want to lecture Hawkeye fans. Quarterback Kyle McCann was booed several times in Saturday’s loss to Michigan when the fans wanted to see back-up Brad Banks in the game.

He says it’s a fans prerogative, but he says he hopes they boo the adults who get paid. He says pro players and coaches get paid and can handle the booing.A bitter defeat to Michigan had lingering effects for the Hawkeyes. Senior corner Matt Stockdale underwent surgery on his injured foot and will be lost for the season.

Ferentz says Stockdale’s leadership will be missed on the field and for what he brings to the football team. While the Hawkeyes were down after the loss to Michigan, Ferentz says they need to realize how far they have come.
