In another twist, federal officials now say a Cedar Rapids man was not connected to the September 11th terrorist attacks. It was originally report that Youssef Hmimssa was not connected to the attacks. Then last week, the U-S Attorney General said Hmimssa may’ve had prior knowledge of the attacks. The 30-year-old Middle Eastern man was arrested in his Cedar Rapids apartment two weeks after the attacks. The Justice Department has since issued a statement saying it does not believe the Hmimssa and two others had prior knowledge of the attacks. Hmimssa was arrested on charges of fraud and falsifying visas and i-ds. He remains in Detroit pending a January 15th trial.
