Reasons are finally being given for a plane crash in early 2000 that killed three Iowans. The National Transportation Safety Board says poor weather conditions and the pilot’s lack of experience led to the February 2000 crash near the northwest Minnesota town of Moorhead. Three Iowa businessmen were killed when the twin-engine plane missed the approach and crashed. The men were headed to Moorhead for a meeting with executives of American Crystal Sugar. The plane was piloted by Larry Stotts of Boone and also carried his son Jeff and business partner Don Larson of Story City.
