Some black Iowans are expressing concern about the detention of Arab Americans, without a court hearing, on suspicions of terrorist involvement. Ako Abdul-Samad is C-E-O and founder of Creative Visions — an inner city agency in Des Moines that helps kids get off the streets, get an education and get a job.Abdul-Samad says it’s the condemnation of an entire race and an entire religion because of the actions of a few individuals.Abdul-Samad says unfortunately, it appears Americans have subconsciously decided Arabs and Muslims are evil people. He says racial and religious profiling didn’t happen in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing, when Tim McVeigh was identified as the bomber.Abdul-Samad, who is black, is the Imam of a Des Moines mosque.
