Rockwell designs new security device for airplanes

An eastern Iowa company’s devised a new airplane security system for passenger planes. Tighter security in the sky has become a concern, and now Cedar Rapids’ Rockwell Collins has come up with a security system that would let pilots monitor airplane cabins with hidden pinhole cameras. Company officials also say they’re ready to ask for F-A-A approval of a remote device flight attendants could use to alert pilots to an emergency. Rockwell Collins officials think the technology would aid pilots faced with an emergency situation. Interest from carriers is said to be high, even though the systems cost from 15- to 40-thousand dollars.
