The “Top of Iowa” wind farm in Worth County was officially dedicated this week with ceremonies in Kensett. Zilkha Renewable Energy CEO Michael Skellycalled it a great move for the next generation.Saying he’s stating the obvious, Skelly points out no fuel’s required to make it, no transport for that fuel or the energy, no emissions, and another crop from the Iowa farmland. Skelly pointed out wind energy’s not cheap to produce, but is valuable for the environment. And he praised local residents for supporting wind-power.They said it’s important where the power comes from and agreed to pay a bit more, and told their lawmakers they care. Iowa Deputy Ag Secretary Brent Halling called it a great combination of agriculture and commerce.Land that’s even more productive, in a new way, and people who make a good situation better. Travelers on Interstate 35 near the Joice and Kensett exit can see the wind turbines on the west side of the highway. 52 landowners in Worth County are participating in the wind farm.
