The struggles continue for the Iowa basketball team. The Hawkeyes fell to 2-4 in the Big Ten after getting blown out at Northwestern 63-50. it was frustrating from the outset as the Hawkeyes made just six of 26 shots in the opening half in falling behind by 14 at the break and the frustrations continue for coach Steve Alford. Alford apologized to the fans after the game for not meeting their high expectations. But, Alford said he saw it coming as the team didn’t execute the game plan the coaches set up.Alford says right now he needs to get the team back. He says that may mean just playing six or seven guys.Ryan Hogan had 12-points off the bench and Alford says his play has been one of the bright spots.Alford says it is frustrating for him to have to find ways to motivate his team, as they should be motivated enough by the chance to play for Iowa and in the Big Ten conference.Iowa hosts Michigan State tomorrow night.
