Morningside College to reflect on events of Sept. 11th

Morningside College in Sioux City is holding a “Day of Reflection” tomorrow for students, faculty and the public to think back about the terrorist attacks of September 11th. College spokesperson Cathee Phillips says they realized there’s still a need to talk about those events. She says they found a great interest when the school decided to offer a course on terrorism and politics and realized there was a need to talk more about September 11th. Phillips says they’ll cover a lot of topics including bio-terrorism, the ethics of reporting on the war, the response of the arts, the fear and stress caused by the event, and there’ll be a session where people can write about their personal feelings after the attacks. She says while it’s a day of looking back, they also hope to look ahead to new ideas.They’re hoping the day will help people to look at things with a different viewpoint, such as not judging all people of Islam by those who committed the acts on September 11th. Phillips says they have a good panel assembled to help the discussion. Phillips says the event that begins at one p-m tomorrow (Wednesday) is open to the public.
