An exhibition of photographs depicting people in sporty clothes but with the heads of dogs opened over the weekend in Iowa City. The display is a collection of pictures done by William Wegman, a photographer who’s made a name for himself by using his own pet canines as models.Pam Trimpe, curator at the University of Iowa Museum of Art, which will feature “William Wegman: Fashion Photographs” through mid-April. Trimpe says Wegman uses the same breed of dog in all of his photo art, the Weimaraner Trimpe says the pictures are -not- the product of trick photography or computer cut-and-pasting. They’re all untouched. She has two Weimaraners herself and says they’re a remarkably gentle and patient dog, evidenced by the goofy poses Wegman has put them in.The exhibition includes more than 30 of Wegman’s latest photographs, all depicting the dogs modeling designer fashions. The pictures are all on a large format of 24-by-20 inches. Admission is free. A video is also being shown at the museum which shows how Wegman got some of the fun photos.
