While the groundhog won’t emerge to check his shadow until tomorrow, many workers are seeing their shadow today. Today is “National Job Shadow Day,” a day when businesses are encouraged to host students who’ll one day poke their heads out of school and enter the workforce. Jan Meek of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry says job shadowing is an important part of the education process. It lets business people show students that the things they’re learning will actually be used when they get a job. Meek says job shadowing also lets students see potential careers and set goals.Meek says there’ll be job shadow events across the state today. Later this month, a group of students will visit the state legislature for a job shadow day.To find out more about setting up a job shadow program, surf to: www.jobshadow.org.
