A Senate committee has voted to ban human cloning in Iowa for research or reproduction. Senator Ken Veenstra, a republican from Orange City, says cloning is wrong. He says it says a lot about our post-modern era culture.Veenstra says people might eventually market humans as we do other products, letting prospective parents “order” the kind of cloned child they want.Veenstra says cloning goes against his view of just who is the creator of life. He says allowing the cloning could lead us down a destructive path.A couple of senators voted against the bill, fearing the ban on cloning for research might prevent some stem cell research. The issue will next be debated in the full Senate.
