Girl’s high school basketball tournament play opens tonight in 2A and 1A. In class 2A, top ranked Mid-Prairie opens against Clear Creek-Amana. Mid-Prairie coach Lisa Doser says it is a great time of year. She says the community, fans and school district are all excited about the tournament play. Despite top ranking, Doser says her team needs to remain hungry.Class 1A, second-ranked Rock Valley opens the tournament at home against Boyden-Hull. Rock Valley coach Preston Kooima says the state tournament is one of the goals they set at the start of the season. Class 1A fifth ranked Rockwell City-Lytton is at home against Sac City. Rockwell City-Lytton coach Dave Birks says defense is the most important facet this time of year.
