The Iowa State Patrol’s been busy in the last twelve days. Since February 1st, the patrol has made two marijuana and two methamphetamine seizures with the street value of the drugs estimated at nearly three-million-dollars. Patrol spokesman Sergeant Robert Hansen says three seizures were made in vehicles on Interstate 80 and one on I-35.All the seizures came after routine traffic stops. The patrol has made several other seizures in recent months of large amounts of drugs and money. Hansen believes all the extra security at airports, train and bus stations is leading to more activity on the highways. Here are the details of the four recent stops: February 1 near Minden on I-80, $224,000 worth of marijuana; February 2 on I-35 north of Clear Lake, $1.8 million worth of meth; February 8 on I-80 outside Council Bluffs, $500,000 worth of marijuana; February 10 I-80 near Walnut, $400,000 worth of meth. Four people from out-of-state were arrested in two of the stops. Hansen says those arrested in the other two stops have not been identified due to ongoing investigations.
