A semi overturned on Interstate-29 near Sioux City this morning, closing a stretch of the highway for two-and-a-half hours. Woodbury County Sheriff’s Sergeant Greg Logan says it happened shortly after 5:00 AM. The driver of a northbound semi pulling a flatbad trailer loaded with scrap steel was near Salix, and wasn’t sure where the turnoff for Highway 12 was, so investigators say he turned on his interior light and pulled out his atlas. As he looked at the map, he drove off the roadway into the east ditch.A following semi went into the median to avoid the accident, and the next 7 vehicles struck steel on the roadway, causing damage to their vehicles. Luckily, there were no serious injuries.
