The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is looking for Iowans who worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Angela Corio is helping organize interviews of the C-C-C workers to create a history. Corio says the C-C-C built more than one thousand structures in 43 Iowa parks, but we know little about the men who built them. She says they want to hear the stories from the men so they make a record of their experiences. She says the Conservation Corps gave the young men a mission during a tough time in their lives. Many of the young men went on to serve in the military during World War Two.Corio says they’ve already conducted several interviews. If you’re interested, contact Corio. You can call 515-281-4579. Corio will set up an interview with a volunteer in your area of the state.
