The city of Grinnell hopes to welcome as many as 25-hundred visitors for a spring fest called “Kites Over Grinnell,” and organizer Dan Ogata says it’ll be far more than just a lot of hot air. There’ll be lots of contests and judging of the kites, from ballet kiting to fighting kites. The date’s set for Saturday, May 4, but he’ll need a lot more to get “Kites over Grinnell” up and flying between now and then.He needs a committee, workers, and donations to double the three thousand in the budget up to six thousand. While ballet and fighter-kites may sound like sport for skilled adults, Ogata says the morning will be for kids, from making their own kites to all kinds of fun contests.
