The road to Hollywood may start in Iowa for budding filmmakers. The Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival will be held tonight and tomorrow to provide an outlet for directors, producers and actors from the Hawkeye State.Scott Chrisman is spokesman for the film festival, which will feature about 20 movies, ranging from shorts and comedies to documentaries and features. He says the focus of the festival is on Iowa films and filmmakers.There are five or six filmmakers from the Cedar Rapids area and all but one of the movies were either made by Iowans or filmed in Iowa. Chrisman explains the motives behind the film festival, which is now in its second year.The films will be shown at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids starting tonight at 6:30 and they’ll run tomorrow from 10 A-M until 10 P-M.
