Police in the Iowa City area have discovered a large stolen identity ring. Coralville police were called to a local hotel Sunday to investigate a fight. After breaking up the parking lot brawl, officers found packaged merchandise in bulk from area businesses inside the room of one of the suspects. Fraudulent identities, driver’s licenses, credit cards and I-Ds were found, leading to the arrest of four men and two women, all of whom used aliases. The suspects are all in jail on bonds ranging from five to 12-thousand dollars. Victims of the theft ring have been found as far away as Florida and Mississippi. Authorities are following leads to determine ownership of the recovered property and say additional charges are forthcoming.
