A new survey shows Iowa’s ahead of the rest of the nation when it comes to using the Internet. The Iowa Alliance for Advanced Telecommunications, a consortium of public and private groups, conducted the survey. Sue Lambertz, a spokesperson for the Alliance says the survey shows 71-percent of Iowa businesses and private households log onto the Internet, the national average is 51-percent. The most frequent on-line activity was using e-mail, followed by surfing the web, reading news, and tracking government action.What’s the reason given for those in the survey who said they don’t get on-line? They said they didn’t need it.Lambertz says the high Internet usage is a good thing for the state.Lambertz says the survey shows Iowa is “web savvy,” which she says is good news for high-tech companies looking to locate here, or those looking for workers.
