Between sixty and one-hundred cars, vans and semi-trucks slid off Interstate 80 into the ditches and median between Davenport and Grinnell during the weekend snowstorm. Iowa Highway Patrol spokesman Sergeant Rob Hansen says it’s a minor miracle -no- one was killed or even seriously hurt. Most injuries were minor or moderate. Still, dozens of cars can be seen wrecked along the roadsides and buried in snow drifts. Sergeant Hansen says it’s the wise motorists who followed the speed limit and reduced their speed in bad conditions. Hansen says all of the state’s highways and interstates are now in the “green” on the road conditions report. Two of the best websites for checking highway conditions are: “www.weatherview.dot.state.ia.us” and “www.earthsat.com/iowa/winter.html”.
