Two eastern Iowa policemen are accused of overstepping their authority. Two young police officers in the Scott County town of Princeton are accused of harassing people of all ages, but particularly teens; arresting motorists on trumped-up charges; falsifying reports; taking the city squad car outside of city limits, blocking the drive-up post office collection box to run radar and generally terrorizing people. That’s what dozens of residents told the mayor and city council members at their monthly meeting. The residents say officers Rocco Marrari and Scott Mitchell are overzealous. They say an outside agency should investigate. But Princeton Police Chief Chris Bryant says none of the accusations have been proven. He says many are based on hysteria and rumors. And he says he’d welcome an FBI or DCI investigation. Mayor Daniel Dawson, who just took office in January, says he1ll call a closed session of the council to discuss the concerns.
