With spring fast approaching, Iowans who are planning gardens, crops or landscaping will be snapping up thousands of free editions of the 2002 Iowa Seed Directory. Farmers are among the biggest users of the catalog.Eileen Wubker, at the Iowa Crop Improvement Association, says the directory is a resource for finding all-Iowa produced seeds for everything from soybeans to sunflowers. Many native Iowa prairie plants can also be grown from seeds listed in the catalog, in addition to crops including corn, oats, barley and wheat. Wubker says it doesn’t cost a bundle to experiment with the seeds. She says some seeds take more care to grow than others. The seeds are produced by more than one hundred members of the I-C-I-A.
