The class 4A semifinals are underway this afternoon at the Boys’ State Basketball Tournament. Waterloo East made two free throws with seven-point-nine seconds remaining and Iowa City West missed a shot at the buzzer to give East the 57-56 win. West came roaring back from a 51-42 deficit, to get back into the ballgame. East takes a 22-3 record into tomorrow night’s 4A title game. It’ll be East versus East in the 4A final, as Sioux City East downed Ankeny 57-53 in the other semifinal. In other action Friday, Dyersville Beckman outscored PCM Monroe 15-6 in overtime for a 59-50 victoryin the class 2A consolation game. With the victory the Blazers and coach Dan Correy wrap up the school’s most successful basketball season. Correy says it’s been a great group of kids to coach. Jason Soppe finished with 21-points on 8-of-12 shooting and also finished with 12-rebounds. Correy says Soppe dominated the game.
