The Iowa Donor Network today launched an on-line registry for organ andtissue donors. Iowa Donor Network spokesman Paul Sodders expects it to be apopular website for compassionate Iowans who want to donate their tissuesand organs upon their death. For years, Iowans have had a box to check offabout organ donation when renewing a driver’s license, but there’s -no-database of that information. Now, the Organ and Tissue Donor Registrywebsite enables Iowans to specify what parts they’d part with when theydepart this world. Sodders says nearly 340 Iowans are now waiting for tissueor organs. The registry will give the network instant access to anindividual’s donor information 24-seven. Iowans who sign up atwww.iowadonorregistry.org will be sent a postage-paid card that’ll have tobe signed and returned so the signature is on file. You can also call877-DONOR-IA.
