The Iowa baseball team opens the home season tomorrow with a single game against Illinois State. The Hawkeyes are back from their trip to Florida and stand 6-7 on the season.Iowa coach Scott Broghamer says he expected to have solid pitching coming into the season and so far he’s been pleased.Broghamer says with the Big Ten race starting this weekend the Hawkeyes need to get the game in.The Grinnell College baseball team is also finishing up a trip to Florida. Pioneer’s coach Tim Hollibaugh has a young team with just four seniors and four juniors. Hollibaugh says the seniors have provided great leadership.Hollibaugh likes the potential of his team.Hollibaugh says the key will be the development of the pitching staff.
