The state issued a burn ban today for Clinton County at the request of local officials. Acting State Fire Marshal Jim Kenkel says the dry conditions in the county make burning there dangerous. Kenkel says Clinton is the only county that’s asked for a ban, but he says that will likely change.He expects to hear from more counties if things stay dry. Kenkel says grass fires have been a problem in the last few days across the state, including several fires this morning.Kenkel has this request of those who might burn off a ditch, or just burn garbage, he urges you to be cautious and check with local officials before you burn. The burn ban in Clinton County took effect at noon today.
