Residents of Iowa and Illinois who live in one state, but work in the other, don’t have to worry about a new tax burden. Governor Vilsack has signed legislation into law that continues the current tax-paying method. Vilsack initially proposed ending an agreement that would’ve added 16-million dollars to Iowa’s economy, but after listening to people in eastern Iowa and western Illinois, changed his mind. Residents will continue to pay taxes to the state in which they live. Vilsack’s first plan would’ve forced them to pay taxes in the state where they work.
