Iowa State wrestler Cael Sanderson continues to pile up the awards following the conclusion of his brilliant career. Iowa lawmakers took time to honor Sanderson, who finished his college career unbeaten at the N-C-A-A championships in Albany, New York. He says it’s an honor and he’s grateful for the opportunity to compete for Iowa State and live in Iowa. He says,”It’s not as bad as people think…I’m just kidding.” That remark drew laughter from legislators.He is a native of Utah. Sanderson has been in demand the past few weeks and has made a number of public appearances. Through it all though he has been able to focus on the transition to international competition. He’s been in Spokane, Washington training and says the workouts are what come first.Sanderson has been a little surprised about how much he has been in demand and all the national shows he has appeared on. He says it’s been kind of overwhelming and he’s just trying to have a good time and enjoy himself.Sanderson says there may be some endorsement opportunities down the road. He says anything that can help him train and reach his goals is important, and he will look at them.
