An Iowa man’s got the perfect way to get your dog back: a microchip in the mutt. Andy Christensen says the pooch had three homes before he got it.The first people who adopted his dog threw it off a bridge into the river, second locked it up with no food and moved. A third set of owners returned the big dog, saying he was too much for them. But when Christensen adopted the pooch it came with something extra, the microchip. The microchip put under the skin can be scanned and it’ll show information that’s been put in a national registry. Christensen says the chip proved its worth in no time. The dog went back to his wandering ways and took off, but after he was picked up, animal-control workers scanned him and got all the info and called Andy to get the dog. Christenson’s donating a microchip scanner to the town of Johnston to help more animal-control officers get pets back to their owners.
