Earth Day and meth labs are not two things you would expect to hear in the same sentence. Still, meth makers usually dump their illegal drug lab materials in ditches, so Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals says people need to be aware of what they’re about to touch.Sheriff Pals says people who are helping clean up roadways this week may find something that’s harmful. He says to call authorities if a possible meth lab is found, mark the items and then an expert will check them out. Pals says there are certain items people can watch for on the roadside.Pals says it’s common to find things like gas grill tanks, red plastic gas cans or any kind of a pitcher. He says they had a case in the last week or so in which someone found all the tools used to make a meth lab.He says the main objective is to be careful about the things you are picking up during Earth Day events and every other day of the year.
