Western Iowans who love getting muddy on their A-T-Vs or motorcycles will have a new place to gun their engines starting Saturday. Chris Didamo, president of the River Valley Trail Riders, helped plan the new River Valley All-Terrain Vehicle Park in Council Bluffs. The park trails cover 135 acres of forestland along the Missouri River and it’s Iowa’s fifth park, devoted only to all-terrain or off-road vehicles.Didamo, of Bellevue, Nebraska, says the park will open Saturday morning at 7 o’clock. He says the parking lot can hold about 150 vehicles and that will determine how many bikes and machines are roving over the trails. He says this sport’s popularity continues to grow. While the perception is A-T-V riders are wild kids, Didamo says the average enthusiast is now 40 years old, a baby boomer looking to have fun with the family. The park is located at 4300 South Omaha Bridge Road in Council Bluffs.
