A large seed processing plant fire is now being contained in southeast Iowa’s Keokuk County. The danger of an explosion at the Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed Processing Plant near Hedrick is over. Firemen say the blaze is under control. It started about 7:30 this morning. Damage is still being assessed at the three-story metal building. The blaze is believed to have started in grain dust, which was piled four feet deep in some areas, causing fears of a large blast. No one was reported hurt.
