The three republican candidates for governor enter the closing stretch of the primary campaign with nearly an equal amount of cash, according to financial disclosure documents.Doug Gross, who’s a Des Moines lawyer, has raised a total of one-point-two million dollars since January, but had just about 141-thousand dollars in the bank a week ago. Steve Sukup of Dougherty, a legislator who helps run his family’s Ag equipment business, has raised just over 680-thousand dollars since he entered the race last year, and Sukup has about 130-thousand left. Bob Vander Plaats (plots) of Sioux City, a former teacher and coach who’s now C-E-O of a non-profit that cares for the disabled, raised 225-thousand dollars since January. Vander Plaats had just over 100-thousand left in his campaign account on May 14th.
