All three of the democrats who hope to face incumbent Congressman Jim Nussle said in the last week the Manchester republican is “out of touch” with his district. On Monday, Nussle held a news conference in the Quad Cities to shrug off that label and talk about economic development plans for the area.Nussle discussed health care improvements, development plans for the Rock Island Arsenal and a proposed new bridge over the Mississippi River at the Quad Cities. Nussle was joined in making the announcement by House Speaker Dennis Hastert.Nussle said he hopes to put the money to build the new bridge in next year’s federal transportation budget.
