A Clinton man testified in a Senate committee hearing today on Parkinson’s disease. Don Schneider testified before the sub-committee on labor, health, human services and education at the invitation of Iowa Senator Tom Harkin.Schneider says the disease forced him to leave a job he loves, and at times leaves him unable to walk, read a book, or dress himself. Schneider, the former general manager of K-R-O-S radio in Clinton, says the disease has created a tremendous financial burden, too.Schneider says he may soon lose his health insurance and the coverage for his 700-dollar-a-month prescriptions. Schneider says the disease has gotten progressively worse in the 15 years since he was diagnosed.In addition to Schneider, former heavyweight boxing champion Muhammed Ali and actor Michael J. Fox also testified.
