The top official in an eastern Iowa town is under close scrutiny for his second job.The mayor of Eldridge has taken a part-time job with that Scott County community’s primary land developer. Fifty-year-old Frank Wood is selling real estate with Mel Foster Company. Wood says he was studying for his real estate license before he was elected mayor last fall. He says the real estate job will give him something to do when he retires as assistant principal at the high school. Wood says he doesn’t think there’s any problem with working for the Davenport-based Realtor and developer. He says he’ll still speak his mind on development issues. Wood says his relationship with Mel Foster might actually benefit the city. He says it could open avenues of communication between the two sides.
