The deadline is fast approaching for you to register if you want to vote in Iowa’s June 4th primary election.Saturday is the deadline to register to be eligible to vote in the primary election. Iowa Commissioner of Elections, Chet Culver, says all 99 county auditors offices will be open Saturday from 8 a-m ’til 4 p-m to register voters. He says if you moved, or are just turning 18, you may need to register. Primary elections usually have a lower voter turnout than general elections.Culver says he expects the turnout to be heavier than normal this year due to contested races for governor and congressmen brought on by re-districting. He says re-districting should heighten the interest at the local level too.He says a lot of state and local officials were thrown together in the re-districting process, making for lots of contested races. If you don’t know your polling place, or need to register, Culver says contact your county auditor. Or, he says you can surf to: www.sos.state.ia.us.
