Environmental experts are looking for water pollution in eastern Iowa. In what may be the first testing of its kind in Iowa, teams from the Iowa Geological Survey were in Scott County yesterday, taking water samples from creeks and streams. Results may not be known for weeks, but volunteers and city, county, state and federal employees fanned out and took samples from about 70 waterways. The goal of the testing is to get a baseline reading on the health of watersheds in the county. The University of Iowa will check the samples for fecal coliform, herbicides and oil and grease.
