The Iowa Department of Transportation says construction won’t slow travelers across Iowa this holiday. The D-O-T’s Jerry Dickinson says you likely won’t see many workers on your holiday trip.He says there are two projects on I-80 in Poweshiek and Cedar Counties, otherwise he says it should be clear sailing. Dickinson says contractors try to plan around the big travel holidays. He says most projects are scheduled so workers aren’t out at the sites stopping traffic during the Memorial Day Holiday. Dickinson though asks you to be careful if you do come upon any road construction. He says there’s been good news thus far this construction season — no work zone deaths. Contractors are enjoying good working weather, too, and he says the season is right on schedule.Dickinson asks motorists to keep up the good driving habits in work zones once the holiday is over and work crews hit the roadways again.
