State officials are helping Clinton police investigate the pipe bombing at a home last night in Clinton.Twenty-one-year-old Matt Hickey was putting his son to bed at about 10 o’clock last night when he heard whispering outside. Hickey was on his way to his home’s front door when two explosions rocked the house. A mailbox attached to the house was destroyed and a portion of the porch roof ripped off by the blast, which could be heard four blocks away. A witness says he saw two suspects run around Hickey’s house prior to the explosion. The witness says the suspects were driving a gold Ford Escort. Hickey faces a trial on charges stemming from a fight at the Voo Doo Lounge in Clinton. Hickey’s charged with being armed, with intent.
