An escaped suspected killer featured on Saturday night’s T-V program “America’s Most Wanted” was caught Sunday in Iowa City. A man who watched the program spotted Joshua Johannes in an Iowa City convenience store and called 9-1-1. Police intercepted Johannes on foot about a block away and arrested him without a problem. Iowa City Police Lieutenant Sid Jackson says Johannes didn’t tell officers who he really was, initially.Using the “America’s Most Wanted” website, they determined the man’s tattoos matched those of the suspect. Johannes is suspected of killing a homeless man in Texas in 2000 and while awaiting trial, escaped from a maximum security Texas prison in October of 2001. While Johannes sounds like a slippery character, Jackson says there was no difficulty taking him into custody.Johannes is being held in the Johnson County jail and faces extradition to Texas.
