One of the spirited contests of this election season is the race for Iowa Republican Party’s nomination for the U-S Senate. It pits Congressman Greg Ganske of Des Moines against former Marine Bill Salier of Nora Springs, who’s a farmer. Salier has made inroads with Republicans for his conservative views and more vigorous campaign style. He says he started out on a vision of winning hearts and minds three-and-a-half years ago.Ganske, although he’s been endorsed by President Bush, acknowledges Salier’s a strong challenger. He says Salier has worked very hard, and says that has helped him run a strong campaign.Ganske and Salier made their comments on Iowa Public Television.
