President Bush is due in Iowa tomorrow to tout the one-year-old tax relief package he signed into law. Bush will speak at the World Pork Expo on the State Fairgrounds shortly before noon tomorrow. U-S Commerce Secretary Don Evans says Iowa was chosen specifically for the President’s remarks about the tax cut.Evans says Iowa is where Bush first proposed the tax cut.Evans says there’s an economic recovery underway in Iowa and the rest of the country, and he says the tax cut has spurred that turn-around. He says there is more work to be done. Bush recently signed the Farm Bill into law, and some conservatives have criticized the move as the bill provides a huge increase in government subsidies.Evans says he’s not concerned about the Farm Bill, nor is the President. This will be Bush’s seventh trip to Iowa since taking office; his third this year, part of a Bush offensive to ensure he’s not challenged in the 2004 Iowa Caucuses like his father was.
