Teenagers who’ve recently discovered “swing” music will boogie alongside people in their 70s and 80s this week in the hometown of big band legend Glenn Miller. Clarinda, in southwest Iowa, is hosting its 27th annual festival, according to Marvin Negley, president of the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society.The festival attracts people from around the world, including this year, a 62-member band from an all-girl high school from Tamana, Japan. Besides all of the musical performances of Miller’s music from bands hailing from around the globe, Negley says there’s a display from the Miller Archives on loan from the University of Colorado.Negley says another popular attraction is the panel discussion which will feature several original members of Miller’s band. He says fans of Miller really enjoy the discussion.The festival opens tomorrow and runs through Sunday.
