Heavy storms rumbled across Iowa last night, dumping perhaps four inches of rain on some areas, and bringing hail, high winds, lightning and causing flash flooding. In southwest Iowa, Taylor County Emergency Management director Mick Ware says it’s the worst hail he’s ever seen with the largest hail bigger than a silver dollar, and very thick. Ware says the storm flattened crops and caused structural damage. Carol McEnaney lives on a farm east of Shenandoah and says the storm-flattened trees, crops and grain bins on the property. McEnaney says the wind and rain were intense, sounding like stuff was hitting the house.Parts of Nebraska saw softball-sized hail last night, injuring two people in the town of Kearney. A flash flood watch is still in effect this morning for parts of southeastern Iowa.
